The Janet Beth- almond poppyseed cookie

I started this bakehouse in loving memory of my precious momma, Janet Beth. The aroma of poppyseed bread baking on a cool day was a comforting staple in my childhood home. Inspired by those fond memories, I wanted to create a cookie that captures the essence of that beloved bread. Each cookie is beautifully topped with a delightful powdered-sugar glaze, enhanced with almond extract and a hint of fresh orange juice, offering a taste that evokes nostalgia and warmth in every bite. 

These cookies have a delightful sugar-cookie texture, giving them a dense and satisfying bite that sets them apart from lighter chocolate chip cookies. Their rich, buttery flavor and soft crumb make them perfectly comforting and indulgent!
